Cabildo Abierto seeks to vote on the increase in the military with the support of the Broad Front

Town meeting (AC) once again sowed discord within the government coalition after presenting an additive article that establishes an increase in the lowest salaries for the military within the draft law of Accountabilityand who is looking to vote right now in deputies with votes of broad front (FA).

CA’s actions generated a new malaise within the Multicolor Coalition because on Monday at the last minute, and after several feints, they had agreed to accompany the vote on the general text of the bill in the Chamber of Senators together with their government partners.

For his part, he National Party (PN), he Colorado party (pc) and the independent party (PI), announced that they will not vote on the increase without it being discussed in the Senate, as had been the compromise agreed upon before CA changed the rules of the game again.

The votes of CA and the FA would be enough to form the majority and make the new article viable, although it remains to be seen what the FA deputies will actually do, who would be willing to vote for the salary increase for junior officers, but would not accompany the payment for nocturnal activity proposed by the lobbying legislators.

Deputy Álvaro Viviano: “An irrelevant political signal”

In an interview with Underlined, the PN deputy, Alvaro Vivianoassured that CA’s position “implies an irrelevant political signal”, because it “adds a series of additives that generate more expenses that are not authorized by the Executive power”.

“We tried in every way to convince them that we had no chance of resolving this issue in the Chamber of Deputies”, affirmed the nationalist legislator, who added that “despite this, they chose this path of insisting anyway with very strange messages.”

“At one point they talked about 1,500 million (of pesos), then they talk about 700 (million pesos),” he remarked. Vivian, who understands that CA chose “a voting path with the strange (Broad) Front” and “with an irrelevant political message because it has no way for that to prosper,” shot the white politician.

For Vivian, the different positions that CA took in the last months “not only annoy, but one is in the Parliament to give certainty” and that “these distorting and wandering paths sometimes all they do is confuse”.
