At around 2:30 p.m., the kayak overturned near Puchenau due to very high waves caused by a passing push boat.
Eyewitnesses saw the incident and immediately reported it to the police.
The 76-year-old was brought unharmed to the shore by the boat crew of FF Wilhering. In addition to two other fire brigades, the police boat Lentia was also deployed.
