The popular Free Tree Festival took place in Taiskirchen for the tenth time last weekend. Thousands of visitors celebrated over the three days, they are proud to be the “green event number one”, according to the organizers of the popular music and culture festival.
Unfortunately, some revelers may be unteachable. As in previous years, the police carried out several checks this year, focusing on drugs and alcohol on the road. 38 drug traffickers were pulled out of circulation by the officials. In addition, nine drivers were driving under the influence of alcohol.
One driver refused to be presented for the clinical examination, and five drivers did not have a valid driver’s license.
According to the police, there were a total of 65 ads in the traffic area. In addition, various drugs such as marijuana and amphetamines were seized in the course of random access controls to the event site. 28 people were reported for offenses under the Narcotics Act.
Two people may also be in for an awkward aftermath. They were reported to the Ried public prosecutor’s office for falsifying evidence. Specifically, the duo is accused of swapping the urine samples.
A look at the police balance sheet for the past two years shows that the many reports this year were not an upward trend. In 2022, 54 drug and seven alcohol drivers were arrested during the main actions in the vicinity of the festival.
Various drugs were also found and seized during checks by the coordinated criminal service last year. 48 people were reported for offenses under the Narcotics Act. In 2021, more than 30 drivers had to give up their driving licenses because of drugs or alcohol at the wheel.
Two years ago, the police found what they were looking for during drug checks on the festival site. Cocaine, speed, cannabis and LSD were found and 31 people reported.
