“This action gets under your skin” – this is the slogan used by One Mobility GmbH, which sells the climate ticket in Austria. “The feedback at the festivals was extremely positive”, said Jakob Lambert, Managing Director of One Mobility GmbH, the APA. On Instagram there was a criticism.Vienna campaign. Also the “Small newspaper” reported on the action. The choice of motif for the free climate ticket was restricted for the festival visitors, it had to be the subject of the climate ticket, explained Lambert. A total of six people – three per festival – received the free, Austria-wide climate ticket for one year. “None of them got the first tattoo of their lives, they were more like people who already have a few and now just have one more”, Lambert said in an interview with the APA on Saturday. In addition, only adults would be tattooed, the action would take place in the early afternoon and not in the evening.

“individual responsibility”

The campaign at the Electric Love Festival in Salzburg took place six weeks ago. On Instagram, users criticized and asked, among other things, whether it was an exemplary action to motivate young adults to get tattooed. “individual responsibility”replied the operators of the climate ticket Instagram account.

A total of around ten tattoos a day were and are given to festival visitors – in addition to the climate ticket, there are other designs that all have to do with public transport, sustainability and climate and are engraved free of charge. “The campaign is extremely well received by the target group, there are extremely many visitors who want to beautify their bodies with tattoos”explained Lambert.

Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) also visited the Frequency Festival in St. Pölten and the climate ticket stand on Thursday. She herself had decided on a child’s tattoo that is washable, and this is also offered. The action is “was received very positively by the festival guests”said a spokeswoman for the minister.

In any case, no further events of this kind are planned for this year, said Lambert. Will there be a repeat next year? “we do not know yet”.

The climate ticket is an annual ticket for almost all public transport in Austria. This means that passengers can travel throughout Austria for three euros per day – a total of 1,095 euros per year. 245,000 people currently have an Austria climate ticket. Regional climate tickets are also available.
