“There was a data leak, with the names and phone numbers of employees who have a cell phone. In other words, it affected the whole world,” Flurina Schenk, a spokeswoman for the security forces, told public television. SRF.
According to the authorities, so far it does not appear that the data has been disseminated on the internet, the AFP news agency reported.
The National Center for Cyber Security (NCSC) had informed the Bern Police on July 21 of this security error in the “MobileIron” application.
Although they quickly resolved that issue, the data had already been stolen.
“MobileIron”, used in many countries, allows the employees of a company or public administration to connect with their cell phones to internal servers.
The Police, who admitted not knowing the identity of the hackers, launched a criminal investigation into the case.
