In total, 7,861 people were deported, almost 27% more than in the same period in 2022, of which 1,664 are women and 1,375 are minors.
The data was criticized by deputy Carla Bunger, spokesperson for the La Izquierda party on refugee policy, and responsible for requesting reports from the Government on the immigration situation.
“Too often, people are forced to return to places where they are threatened by war, extreme poverty and lack of prospects, under the threat or use of violence. This is irresponsible,” Bunger said, in statements which the German news agency DPA replied.
According to the report, people with Georgian nationality were the most deported (705), followed by North Macedonians (665), Afghans (659) and Turks (525).
In Germany, people whose asylum application is rejected or whose visa or residence permit has expired must leave the country, and if they do not and there are no obstacles such as illness or other reasons for tolerance, the authority must deport them.
However, according to the data, in the first half of the year 520 deportation attempts had to be aborted, mostly due to resistance from those involved, the refusal of the pilot or the airline, or the refusal of the Federal Police to take charge.
