Because heavy rain and drought have steadily increased in recent years, it is important to protect the soil from erosion and soil removal while at the same time being able to generate good yields. The new ÖPUL measures also require erosion-reducing measures for maize on a field slope of more than ten percent.
Against this background, the bio-competence center carried out corn trials at five locations. These will be inspected together at the organic corn field day on August 31st. The participants learn more about the different cultivation variants, such as ridge cultivation without ploughing, or cross-sowing strips, and can exchange experiences and knowledge gained in practice. The meeting point is on Thursday, August 31, at 1:30 p.m. at the Peer test site in Putzleinsdorf (Kleinstifting 1). Information in the Bio-Competence Center, simon.rauoecker@fibl.org, 0660 / 9631338.
