The Multicolor Coalition party must gather some 270,000 supporters to force a plebiscite on the bill.
Town meeting (AC) will launch this Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the prelude to the Senate the campaign to collect signatures to force a plebiscite by the bill of debt restructuring to individuals.
The party of the Multicolor Coalition It intends that the campaign is not of a partisan nature, in order not to limit the number of possible adherents to it, which needs at least 270,000 signatures (10% of the electoral roll), a number slightly above the amount of people who voted for CA in the last general elections of 2019.
The campaign will be called “against usury and for a fair debt”, and as announced by CA in networks, “it will begin the path of solidarity” with those Uruguayans who are over-indebted. The political force has a deadline until April 27, 2024, as stipulated by the Electoral Court.
Likewise, from the party they announced that the campaign will be “austere” and that there will be some 700 people involved in the launch through the different collection points.
CA estimated a first investment cost of about $80,000 in terms of merchandising (flags, brochures, hats, jingles and t-shirts).
Cabildo Abierto highlighted the importance of aesthetics in the campaign to collect signatures
“Aesthetics will have a very important role because the goal is to identify adherents of all parties,” CA’s political coordinator told Subrayado, Mark Methol.
“The mustard yellow and burgundy that identify the party will not be used, the bet is on neutral colors and some national symbol,” he explained in this regard.
Indeed, CA launched the official social networks of the virtual signature collection campaign “For a Fair Debt” in green tones and with the national flag in the center of the logo.
