Ancap’s energy transition strategy
At the end of last year, ancap presented its energy transition strategy before an international panel within the framework of international competition Extreme Emade in east point.
There, Stipanicic assured that “Uruguay wants to go from importing fossils to exporting energy green“, and that the present degree of decarbonization was achieved thanks to the stability of the country and the consensus of the different administrations over the years, where the entire political spectrum agreed to promote energy and environmental policies.
Ancap is committed to the development of hydrogen projects on a global scale, totally oriented towards exports, especially to the European Union.
This would mean, “on the one hand, decarbonizing our refinery and traditional operations” and, on the other hand, “the development of biogenic carbon capture projects to produce methanol” and “the worldwide production of hydrogen offshore”. as indicated by the chief.
