It’s time for StadtLesen again: from today, Thursday to Sunday, the project will stop again in Linz. Around 3000 books from current publishing programs are waiting to be discovered in the Freiraum Lentos.

It starts at 9 a.m. and can be read until dark – admission is free. On Friday, the format will become a stage for “international understanding” with the integration reading day, citizens with a migration background are invited to read texts they have written themselves in their mother tongue. Sunday, in turn, is all about families and thus children’s and youth literature.

The StadtLesen project (initiated by the Innovationswerkstatt in Salzburg) has been touring European cities since 2008. 289 cities applied to take part in the anniversary year, and 25 of them will be reading for 100 days and 1300 hours this year. The proclaimed goal: to create low-threshold access to books and reading and, ideally, to arouse lasting enthusiasm. Information at: stadtlesen.com/lesestaedte/linz-3
