The theater in the Kulturfabrik Helfenberg not only delighted the audience with the comedy “Kalender Girls”. Good deeds were also done: the production was a box-office hit and, with 4,320 visitors and 15 sold-out performances, gave the Helfenberg team a record attendance. The play, which is based on a true story, tells the story of aging, friendship, beauty, love, as well as illness and death, with a great deal of subtle humour, warmth and depth. It was magnificently directed by John F. Kutil. As in the original story, the ensemble in Helfenberg has also launched a wonderful charity campaign.
Not only did the actors collect after the performances, but a calendar was also published ? according to the great model. The printing was generously supported by Oberösterreichische Versicherung. With the sale of almost 1000 calendars and the collection of donations, the sum of 26,600 euros was achieved, which was handed over to the Austrian Cancer Aid. The amount helps to finance the Rohrbach counseling center and thus benefits cancer patients and their families. All offers and preventive programs of the cancer aid are financed exclusively by donations. Brigitta Waschnig and John F. Kutil, the artistic directors of the Theater in der Kulturfabrik, are now retiring from this function after 16 years of theater work and 13 years of artistic direction. You played a key role in building up the quality brand “Theater in der Kulturfabrik” and are particularly pleased with this crowning achievement.
