The German wanted to slide down the Flying Fox in the “Königsleiten Gerlospass Bergbahnen” ski area. However, due to the braking device not working properly, the athlete reached the bottom too quickly. On site, an employee tried to intercept her, but she still hit the restraining cushion at the exit point at increased speed. She suffered an abrasion on her left knee as a result of the impact and complained of abdominal pain. A broken rib and abrasions on the left knee were diagnosed in the Tauernklinikum Mittersill.
The woman wore a helmet while using it, was properly secured and hooked into the device by a professionally trained employee. The reason why the braking device did not work properly is still unknown. The system was put out of operation until the test or TÜV acceptance.
