As the State Police Directorate reported on Saturday, the man had been missing for about an hour. Friends alerted the emergency services to the bathing lake. The officials of the city police command, the water police as well as professional rescue and fire brigade then started a large-scale search operation.
After about an hour, fire brigade divers were able to rescue the missing person and hand him over to the rescue services, but resuscitation measures were unsuccessful. “The operation was initiated by an emergency call that a person could no longer get out of the water,” said the professional rescue service on Friday.
The police investigation revealed that no third party was to blame and that the man, who left his group of friends unnoticed, had an accident in the water. Due to the large number of onlookers during the operation, additional officers from the standby unit had to be called in.
