At 8:14 p.m., the fire brigade, which had already been called upon by the heavy thunderstorm, received the alarm: A fire had broken out in a machine hall on a farm near Pierbach. When the first firefighters arrived at the scene, the building should already have been fully engulfed in flames.
The flames were fueled again and again by the strong wind, which made extinguishing the fire difficult. Alert level two was declared and other emergency services were alerted. A total of eleven fire brigades from the area were involved in extinguishing the fire. They received support from numerous farmers who rushed to the site with liquid manure barrels.
Nothing was known at the time about the cause of the fire. The extinguishing work will probably last until the late hours of the night. Only then can the amount of damage caused be estimated.
