PUCKING. When an inn closes its doors forever, it is also bitter for the community. Pucking’s mayor Thomas Altof (FP) noted the end of the Gasthaus Zeiner with melancholy. “Since 1902, the Zeiner family was an important local supplier of gastronomy and a meeting place in Pucking and was particularly closely linked to the St. Leonhard district,” says Altof.
The fact that the inn is now history after more than 120 years is also due to the circumstances of the time, including the difficulty of finding staff, says Altof and thanked the host family for their commitment and passion for gastronomy.
“Place where you would like to come back”
The Gasthaus Zeiner was known for its home cooking, the pastries and above all the homemade pastries. In addition, not only the inn but also the beautiful guest garden was a place where people liked to stop, as Altof puts it.
Even if it is a pity for the municipality of Pucking when a traditional inn closes, the mayor does not yet see a supply problem. “Even if we used to have twice as many inns in the community as this year, there is still the Mayr inn and the Rosemarie restaurant.”
Altof is also committed to the tavern culture and, as mayor, strives to ensure that the gastronomy is well utilized through community events and festivals.
