On Sunday, September 3rd, things are happening in the Schärding district: the cycling club “Team Alpha” from St. Roman organized with the “Sauwald Giro” after a break of eleven years again a district tour. A new concept has been created for this.
Hobby cyclists can prove themselves on two routes – 108 kilometers and 61 kilometers. Both races will start at 8.45 a.m. and 9 a.m. respectively. “The anticipation of the premiere of the Sauwald Giro is huge”, says Andreas Holzapfel, member of the organization team. Almost 80 helpers ensure that the tour runs smoothly, starting and ending in the center of St. Roman. There is not only a suitable supporting program for young and old during the race, but also one “After race party”which will rise after the award ceremony.
In cooperation with the joinery Grömmer, precious trophies for the podium riders were constructed with a lot of heart and soul. At the first “Sauwald Giro” but nobody goes away empty-handed: “All participants will receive a great starter package including a voucher for a portion of pasta and a drink”, explains Holzapfel. It will also need good refreshment, because both tours offer some challenges for the cyclists. On the longer route, for example, almost 1400 meters in altitude have to be mastered.
“The spectators can look forward to an exciting race”says Holzapfel.
