Babeler and the mystery of a bust of Lenin

There is only one bust in his Traiskirchner mayor’s office – and that of Viktor Adler, the founder of Austrian social democracy. There is also a picture of his predecessor and “a crucifix consecrated by the Pope,” which he received from the mayor of Lampedusa.

The rumor goes back to blurred details from a Babler portrait published in “Standard” in 2020, as its author noted yesterday. In his description of Babler’s desk in the private living room, he mentioned “two small plastic busts” of Marx and Lenin on a shelf. According to tradition, Marx has now disappeared and Lenin has wandered into the town hall. What Babler now rejected as well as content points of contact with Lenin.
