With a Ferris wheel and more: In Leonding, three days of celebrations are on the agenda again

It’s practically just around the corner: the eighth edition of the Leondinger Stadtfest presented by OÖN. Despite all the tradition, there are many premieres to be celebrated with free entry. The biggest of them in the truest sense of the word? The 15 meter high Ferris wheel in front of the 44 house.

The Ferris wheel, long awaited by Mayor Sabine Naderer-Jelinek, is not a true Upper Austrian – it comes from an exhibitor from Styria – but that doesn’t spoil the fun. On the contrary, the enthusiasm is great.

“The Ferris wheel is definitely our highlight this year,” says Marlene Siegl, where all the organizational threads come together. After all, such an attraction is simply part of a fair. The Ghosty House is also new this year: After enjoying the “slightly different view of the city”, visitors can get a little scared there. The fact that these two attractions exist is thanks to the commitment of Rudolf Schlader (Schlader Pleasure Company).

Program for young and old

The Rescue Dogs search dog team will also have their premiere at the city festival next week, and they will provide information about their work – supported by two rescue dogs.

It starts on Friday, September 8th, as usual, with the Kirtag at 1 p.m. The official opening and beer tapping will follow at 6 p.m. The shawm parade of the Ei-Li-Scho carnival guild and, for the first time, Bamboomoon will ensure a good atmosphere there. Visitors can look forward to artists who not only walk on stilts, but also juggle.

On Saturday, the blue light organizations show their skills, in addition to the voluntary fire brigades, the police and rescue services are also there. Sunday is family day, there are also some free offers here: from breakfast in the atrium (only for Leondinger families with an Upper Austrian family card) to the Punch and Judy show.

Of course, the appropriate musical accompaniment or entertainment should not be missing at the city festival. On Friday “Hausmannskost” will play, on Saturday “Meli & the Gentlemen” and “Rampen-Oxx”, on Sunday the Leondinger Stadtkapelle and the Edelmetall Brass Quartet will have their big performance.

“Our program has something for young and old. We guarantee fun even when it rains,” says Siegl, alluding to the moody weather last year. One of her “main” tasks in this year’s organization: “Always eat well together so that the weather gods are well blessed.”

Festival visitors are invited to come to the city festival on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. It should be borne in mind that routes 191 and 192 will be detoured due to the celebrations. The final stops of lines 191 and 192 will be relocated to the “Leonding Schule” and “Spillheide” stops. During the closure of Michaelsbergstraße, an alternative stop will be set up between Lehnergutstraße and Mayrhansenstraße.
