The public prosecutor’s office in Graz confirmed the corresponding media reports. A decision must be made by Friday evening as to whether pre-trial detention will be imposed. As reported, the 16-year-old from Graz and her 17-year-old companion are said to have left a running sushi restaurant on the Landstraße in Linz on August 9 without paying and got into their car.
Woman critically injured
When the landlady tried to stop them, they are said to have run over the woman and fled. The 41-year-old restaurant owner was run over and critically injured. Evaluations of video recordings and witness statements showed that the 16-year-old may have been behind the wheel.
Escape to Croatia
After the crime, the teenagers fled to Croatia, where they were caught a few days later. Now they were extradited to Austria. On Thursday evening they were handed over to Austrian police officers at the Slovenian border, reported Hansjörg Bacher, spokesman for the Graz public prosecutor.
The duo has now been taken to the Graz-Jakomini prison, and the court must decide within 48 hours whether they will be held in custody.
