“The weather is right, the wine is right and it’s the weekend”

The finest wines and fine wines as well as culinary delights and art as far as the eye can see – right in the historic center of the state capital. More than 60 winegrowers from all over Austria will be presenting their range tomorrow, Saturday, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. One or the other wine from Austria’s neighboring countries can still be tasted.

Several thousand visitors flocked to the stands on Thursday and Friday “wine and art” at the Alter Markt, at Landhausplatz, in the Landhaus-Arkadenhof and along the promenade. Some use the opportunity to try new wines, for others it is “wine and art”, which is presented this year by the OÖ Nachrichten, has already become a fixed date in the calendar. Because for more than 25 years, the state capital has been transformed into a wine hotspot for three days, which is known far beyond the state borders.

Wine for a good cause

But “wine and art” has not only established itself as an event tradition. Visitors can also combine the enjoyment of wine with a good cause: each purchased wine glass can be returned to one of the three dispensing stations, which means that the donation is passed on to charitable organizations.

Simon Hofstadler, Tobias Penneder and Florian Raff stroll through the old town in a relaxed atmosphere. Each with a glass of wine in hand, the three work colleagues from the Mühlviertel leave yesterday evening in Linz “wine and art” fade out: “The weather is right, the wine is right and it’s still the weekend. What more do you want?”

For Austria’s winegrowers, too, the event has become an integral part of the annual cycle. “I enjoy the beautiful atmosphere here in Linz and the conversations with the visitors”says winemaker Daniela Felsner. “This is what makes this event very special.”
