The meeting will deal with bilateral and international issues, as the Kremlin announced. An important issue is the return to the agreement on shipping Ukrainian grain across the Black Sea, which Erdogan is demanding. Ankara repeatedly emphasizes that the agreement is important for supplying the world.
The country is also concerned about security in the Black Sea region. Putin had set conditions for a return to the agreement negotiated last year through Turkey and the United Nations. For example, the sanctions imposed by the West in the wake of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine should be relaxed so that Russia can also export its own grain and fertilizers unhindered. Talks in Sochi are scheduled to start at noon.
