After 18 years, Sergio Ramos is back at his youth and parent club Sevilla FC. This was announced by the Primera Divison club on Monday. The 37-year-old Ramos has been without a contract since July. The former world and European champions have played for Paris Saint-Germain for the past two years after spending 16 years at Real Madrid. The centre-back has won the Champions League four times and won the championship five times with Los Blancos.
Ramos, who was last linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, will get a one-year contract, the Andalusian club said. “Today is a very special day for me, a very moving day,” said the 2010 world champion in a video posted by the club. With his return, he will also pay a debt to his entire family, but especially to his grandfather, “who made me a ‘Sevillista'”.
Ramos switched from Seville to Real when he was 19, which upset many supporters in his home country. The defender announced his retirement from the Spanish national team in February. Ramos is the record holder for La Roja with 180 appearances.
