The Inter Milan striker was displeased that Daniel Bachmann’s receiving the ball was greeted with derisive applause by some supporters. The goalie had previously been responsible for the goal due to a bad reaction to a failed back pass from Kevin Danso in the third minute.
“I heard a bit in the first half how the ball was played back to Daniel and that there were people in the stadium who hyped it up a bit,” said Arnautovic in the ORF interview. “I don’t think that’s good, it’s not acceptable. You should build a player after a mistake like that. We’re playing at home, that’s our audience, and if our audience isn’t behind us, who should be behind us?” he asked ÖFB record international.
Even after the final whistle there were isolated demonstrations of disapproval from fans. “I didn’t hear the whistles after the game, I went straight in. If you played a draw and deserved the win, I don’t like to be approached,” said Arnautovic.
