The announcement was made this Thursday, September 7, by the Minister of Tourism within the framework of a working lunch organized by the Association of Marketing Leaders (wdm).
From the figures recorded in the first part of 2023, it is clear that tourists left an average of 500 dollars per head during their visit, and that the tourism sector began to show signs of recovery after what was the abrupt drop in times of pandemic.
In turn, these 2023 numbers are already higher than everything recorded in 2019 (the year before the pandemic), consolidating a recovery period that began during the third quarter of 2022.
1 million Argentine tourists visited Uruguay in the first half of 2023
Of the total number of tourists, almost 1 million were Argentine citizens, which could be understood as a clear sign that despite the price gap and the exchange differencethey continue to elect Uruguay as one of the main tourist destinations.
