Tourism generated income of US$ 1,000 million in the first semester

Tourist activity generated income of 1,000 million dollars during the first half of 2023, after arriving in Uruguay more than 2 million visitors, according to the minister of Tourism, Tabare Viera.

The announcement was made this Thursday, September 7, by the Minister of Tourism within the framework of a working lunch organized by the Association of Marketing Leaders (wdm).

Likewise, in the same period, a record number of tourists from Brazilwith more than 260,000 visitors, about 40,000 more than the people who arrived in 2019.

During the first half of the year, some 187 cruise ships arrived with 320,000 tourists on board, of which 60% were Brazilians, reporting revenues of 16 million dollars.
