The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported today that “remains of drones similar to those used by the Russian army” were found around the town of Plauru, in eastern Romania, near the Ukrainian border, and anticipated that they will be collected and evaluated.

The Romanian Army carried out the search after remains of other drones were discovered this week a few kilometers away.
The Romanian president, Klaus Iohannis, announced that he will speak by phone with the secretary general of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, the military alliance to which Romania belongs.
“I strongly condemn this violation of our sovereign airspace, which constitutes a threat to Romanian citizens in the sector,” Iohannis declared on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Army will continue its investigative operations, said the Ministry of Defense, in a statement replicated by the AFP news agency.
Romania, a member of the European Union and NATO, also intends to reinforce “airspace surveillance and security measures” after Russia’s repeated attacks that violate the border on the Danube ports and their infrastructure.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, NATO has tried to prevent the war from spreading to its member countries.
Any attack against one of the countries of the Atlantic Alliance carries the risk of leading to a war against Russia, a nuclear power, due to the defense pact between its members.
