Apple will present the new iPhone models next Tuesday at 7 p.m. The company has not yet made any official announcements about the iPhone 15, but some details have already become public. What Apple fans can look forward to:
- USB-C replaces Lightning: Apple has resisted this change for a long time. Due to long-standing pressure from the EU, iPhones now also have to be equipped with a USB-C port. Apple’s own Lightning connector, which has been standard equipment on iPhones since 2012, has now become obsolete.
- Usual variety of models: There should be no major changes to the models. In addition to the standard model, there will probably be an iPhone 15 Plus again. The series is supplemented with a Pro model or a Pro Max model. Some observers assume that the latter could be replaced by an iPhone 15 Ultra.
- Design innovations: The display edges on the iPhone 15 are likely to become even narrower – from 2.2 to 1.5 millimeters, as Bloomberg journalist and iPhone expert Mark Gurman reports. The notch at the top of the screen should also be a thing of the past. Instead, the cheaper models should also be equipped with the Dynamic Island. Furthermore, the Pro models will have a titanium casing in the future. This promises more stability, but also higher material costs.
- New and old chips: The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus should have better cameras and the A16 chip, which was previously only installed in the iPhone 14 Pro. The Pro models could be the first smartphones ever to receive three-nanometer chips.
