A 40-year-old from the Gmunden district went “swimming” in Lake Traunsee on Sunday morning after visiting the Ebensee Kirtagbier tent. At around 4:10 a.m., a 59-year-old from the Wels-Land district saw him swimming in the bank area, apparently in distress, and pulled him out of the lake.
Since the 40-year-old stated that he was not alone in the lake, a search was launched for another person in distress on Lake Traunsee. However, his information changed several times due to his drunken state. When he was sure that he was alone, the search was called off at around 5:30 a.m.
