At 15 meters, it is certainly not the largest of its kind, but the Ferris wheel on Leonding’s town square was able to enchant visitors to the town festival. For many, taking a seat in one of the gondolas was a must – and one that brought great joy to guests both young and old. Mayor Sabine Naderer-Jelinek was also impressed by the “beautiful view of the mountains”.
“The Ferris wheel was really well received, the atmosphere was great, the weather was a dream,” said city festival organizer Marlene Siegl today, giving an overall positive assessment of the eighth edition. The exhibitors were also very satisfied, some of them had already sold as much on Saturday as they normally did on all three days combined.
Came to stay
“We are tired, but happy,” said Siegl, pleased that the format was so well received again. “It was a record city festival,” said Naderer-Jelinek, sharing her enthusiasm about the many visitors – and took the opportunity to sincerely thank Siegl and her team for their commitment.

In addition to the premiere attractions Ferris Wheel and Ghosty House, the Rescue Dog search dog team was particularly well received, and this year also provided information about their work for the first time – supported by two rescue dogs. But it wasn’t just the new that had its appeal, but also the “tried and tested”. The performances by the clubs and blue light organizations have become an integral part of the program – as have the musical acts and culinary delicacies.
“People just like it, the city festival is a nice end to the summer holidays before school starts again,” said Siegl. The question remains whether there will be a Ferris wheel again next year. “Yes, of course,” Naderer-Jelinek said with a laugh. So the next city festival can come.
