Upper Austria’s emergency organizations prove their effectiveness again and again: in storms, floods, accidents and other crisis situations, they are there reliably for the population, individually and in collaboration. From September 21st to 23rd they will come together for the rescue fair, the leading Austrian trade fair for emergency organizations, at the Wels trade fair.
In Hall 20 and in the spacious open-air area, the emergency services as well as experts and businesses will present new features and innovations. Numerous companies show new vehicles and devices based on the latest technology. The Czech commercial vehicle manufacturer Tatra is presenting the “TLF Forest Fire” for the first time in Europe. With this new type of vehicle, the company is responding to the forest fires in Europe over the past few months.
Practical robot demonstration
The companies present the emergency organizations with solutions for the latest innovations in operational technology. One of the main focuses is on the topic of “robotics”. Robot systems can increase the safety of emergency services by working directly in the danger zone or improving the situation picture in confusing situations. For example, the operational robot “Wolf R1” from Alpha Robotics and Magirus Lohr will be shown in a practical demonstration in the outdoor area. “DRILL-X” will also be on display: The “drill extinguishing device” can be used to fight fires that are difficult to access.
A second focus is drones, which will be on display in their own “Flight Zone” in exhibition hall 20. Visitors can also watch the drone pilot via a video screen to get an impression of the operational situation. There is an all-day drone flight operation in the open-air area, with pilots from the Upper Austrian Red Cross and the police answering all questions. The Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association (ÖBFV) also informs visitors about fire-fighting and reconnaissance drones, as well as legal aspects of the topic.
Demonstrations on the Traun
There are also numerous other innovations waiting for visitors, such as an emergency rescue box for infants, simplified carrying systems for tubes and powerful tablets for digital operational support. The Upper Austrian water rescue team even holds demonstrations on the nearby Traun.
Parallel to the trade fair, the Federal Fire Brigade Day takes place on September 23rd. 100 top officials from all over Austria meet there. Almost 1,000 decision-makers from all over the state will meet on September 22nd for the State Fire Brigade Day of the Upper Austrian State Fire Brigade Association.
Volunteer Day on Saturday
On Saturday there will be a performance exhibition by the Upper Austrian emergency organizations. On “Volunteer Day”, those interested can get an impression of what it’s like to work for a blue light organization. In addition to the volunteer organizations, professional helpers such as the Linz professional fire department, the armed forces and the police are also represented with their own stands.
