The court psychiatrist said the woman was emotionally unstable and had a histrionic disorder, but she knew what was right and what was wrong.
The public prosecutor accuses the 32-year-old of having slashed her 40-year-old husband, with whom she has four children, in his sleep with a Stanley knife or a razor blade in the summer of 2022. The murder weapon has not yet been clearly identified. She is said to have previously mixed medication into the victim’s goulash that she had taken for a depressive phase. The man then became tired, lay down and was attacked. He survived thanks to emergency surgery.
The woman who first spoke of self-defense and later accused her 13-year-old daughter of the crime had already appeared in court once in the spring. At the time, only two of the eight jurors considered her guilty as charged, which the professional judges viewed as an “error.” They suspended the verdict. Therefore the case had to be retried. This time too, the woman stuck to it: she didn’t commit the crime, it was her daughter. She denied this during her interview and described a difficult everyday life with her mother.
The psychological expert Adelheid Kastner certified that the defendant was “emotionally unstable” and had a “histrionic disorder”. The latter means that she always wants to be the center of attention. As an example, she cited that the woman had claimed – apparently falsely – that she was suffering from a number of serious illnesses. But “she knows what’s right and what’s wrong.” The defendant will “sooner or later get into conflicts with everyone she lives with,” said the expert.
