The plane fell on a car which caught fire. A five-year-old girl died in the flames caused by the crash, Italian media reported. The pilot was able to save himself because he jumped out of the plane with his parachute in time.
A video published by the daily newspaper “La Repubblica” shows the pilot of the plane, an MB.339, parachuting out of the crashed plane. A five-year-old girl who was watching the aerobatic team’s tests in the car with her family on the runway died in the flames after the plane crashed. A nine-year-old boy, presumably the brother of the victim, suffered burns, as did his mother and father. All were taken to hospitals in Turin. The pilot was also taken to the hospital.
It is suspected that birds may have gotten into the plane’s engine, which may have caused the crash, Italian media reported.
