The 15-year-old attended a party in Grünburg on Saturday evening. Shortly after midnight, the young person left the party and wanted to go to the toilet in a nearby forest. She climbed over a fence, but due to the darkness and lack of local knowledge, she didn’t know that behind it was an almost vertical embankment towards the Steyr River. The girl fell around 30 meters.
A friend who saw the accident immediately started the rescue chain. Several surrounding fire departments, including height rescuers and firefighters equipped with boats, were alerted. Emergency services from the Federal Republic of Germany in Grünburg/Steinbach and Molln were rappelled down to the injured girl. There was also a doctor who looked after the 15-year-old the entire time.
Since rescue from the crash site could not be carried out due to the nature of the terrain, the girl had to be taken about 300 m downstream in a boat from the FF Steyrling. At around 2:30 a.m. the 15-year-old was finally handed over to the rescue and taken to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Klinikum Steyr.
