A model is getting smaller! Is that possible? Yes, with the Mini. The fifth generation shrinks by two centimeters to 3.8 meters. Marginal, sure, but at least no growth. The little one can still be recognized at first glance: typically circular lights at the front, the stylish Union Jack emblem in the taillights and extremely short overhangs. The bright surround of the radiator grille region is striking. The chrome was replaced by Vibrant Silver paint.
“Hey Mini” for the first time
The inside is as minimalist as the outside. Fewer components, but everything is still there, especially the classic OLED round instrument in the middle, which is just as thick as the screen and can illuminate the back like the flat screen at home. The panoramic glass roof and the head-up display are optional. The English have redesigned the toggle bar with the five rocker arms. New on board is the voice assistant “Hey Mini”, which can be used to control all sorts of functions.
The new Mini Cooper is only available with an electric drive. The E version has an output of 135 kW (184 hp), the SE 160 kW (218 hp). The 40.7 kWh battery in the E stores enough electricity for 305 kilometers; in the SE, Mini installs a 54.2 kWh battery. Range: 402 kilometers.
The Mini Cooper E and Mini Cooper SE will come to Austria in spring 2024.
The Countryman has grown by six centimeters in height (1.66 meters) and 13 centimeters in length (4.43 meters). This is also only powered electrically. In the “E” there is a 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor, in the all-wheel drive SE All4 two electric power plants produce 230 kW (313 hp). Range: 462 or 433 (SE) kilometers.
