The first calf auction after the Rieder Messe was exceptional for various reasons. Firstly, over 600 calves were offered. Secondly, demand from fatteners in the region was stronger than expected. Thirdly, prices in all categories improved compared to the last auction.

The large supply of female breeding calves had no negative impact on prices; on the contrary, many breeders and companies benefited from the large supply. The average price improved to 4.94 euros net. The Schmid company from Münzkirchen achieved the highest price of 758 euros for a Happyday calf from a very productive mother. The average price for Simmental bull calves improved to 5.38 euros net.

All weight classes benefited from the price increase compared to the last market. This time only 22 percent of the calves were purchased from the companies Österreichische Rinderbörse, Wiestrading, Schwaninger and Zupfinger. The proportion of calves purchased by farmers was significantly higher than usual.
