It would have needed at least 500 signatures to help the parliamentary citizens’ initiative “Ensuring school transport in the Perg district”, organized by the SPÖ district of Perg together with the community representatives in the district, to submit to parliament. Ultimately, at 1586, there were more than three times as many. On the sidelines of the plenary session of Parliament, these signatures were handed over to the Second Speaker of Parliament, Doris Bures, on Wednesday. NR tax Sabine Schatz and the district chairman of the community representatives’ association, Walter Hofstätter, emphasized: “Thanks to great efforts, the affected communities have now succeeded in making school transport possible for the start of school. However, it is clear that the federal government must now also fulfill its responsibility to ensure that this burden is met is not passed on to parents and communities.”
