The journalist, host and actress Cristina Morán, known as “lady television”, died today at the age of 93, after a career of more than 70 years in radio, television and theater, and an enormous legacy for culture in Uruguay.

Morán, whose real name was Iris Fariña, was one of the first women to appear on screen at the beginning of Channel 10, in 1956, and he remained active in the media until almost the end of his life. His radio debut It had been in 1948 on Radio Carve, a memory that the journalist liked to remember as the moment in which she discovered her vocation, as well as the reason that led her to look for a stage name that was “more radio.”
