According to initial findings, the 66-year-old pensioner may have crossed an unbarred railway crossing on her e-bike despite the red light, the police said. A passenger train that was traveling from Gleisdorf towards the train station in St. Ruprecht at the same time hit the 66-year-old and threw her to the ground.
After receiving initial care from the emergency doctor and rescue service, the cyclist was flown to the Graz State Hospital by the rescue helicopter team with serious injuries. However, the doctors there were unable to save her life. The train driver and the 17 passengers remained uninjured.
