The plebiscite, which according to specialists could cost the State, now enters the stage in which the PIT-CNT must gather signatures for it to be implemented next year. For this reason, the headquarters will analyze the next steps starting next week.

The person who confirmed that the ballot passed the filter was the Minister of the Electoral Court, Joseph Korzeniak, who specified in dialogue with Subrayado that “it complies with the requirements of the circular that the Court has for these purposes.”
Therefore, the challenge for unionism will now be to reach 10% of those registered on the electoral roll. Thus, it is estimated that he has time until April 27 to gather around 270,000 signatures and then present them to the vice president. Beatriz Argimón, which will then send them to the Electoral Court to verify the validity.
The axes of the PIT-CNT ballot
The plebiscite promoted by the union center, which according to surveys today is validated by 45% of the Uruguayans, has among its main axes the end of AFAP, maintain the retirement age at 60 years and prioritize retirement amounts and minimum pensions.
On the ballot, the PIT-CNT pointed out that “individual savings systems for retirement purposes are prohibited,” thus referring to the AFAP, considering that they must complete their activities within a maximum period of two years “from the entry into force of this reform.”
Regarding the retirement age, it places it at 60 years and establishes that “no retirement or pension may be less than the value of the national minimum wage.”
