The 55-year-old German dived into Lake Traunsee with a diving instructor at around 3:15 p.m. At a depth of around 38 meters, the man signaled problems, which led to an emergency ascent. The 55-year-old collapsed on the surface of the water and was pulled out of the water by several witnesses. Attempts at resuscitation by the first aiders and the emergency doctor were unsuccessful. The man died at the scene of the accident.
The police’s initial report on Saturday morning mentioned a female victim, but the police corrected their information at midday.
