At around 7:15 a.m. the emergency services were alerted to Flötzerstrasse in Traun. When the firefighters arrived, a ground floor apartment in the apartment building was fully ablaze. When the first respiratory protection team entered the building, flames were already coming from the fire apartment.
During the course of the operation, 37 people had to be evacuated and one dog had to be rescued, while a second dog could only be rescued from the building dead.

Four of the 37 people were taken to hospital. The building is temporarily uninhabitable.
