A 35-year-old from the Hollabrunn district set off on a mountain tour to the Traunstein in Gmunden with her 36-year-old friend from Steyr. While descending the Mairalmsteig, a boulder came loose and fell towards the valley, hitting the woman in the back. The 35-year-old then fell around three meters and injured herself. Her companion immediately called 911. The Gmunden mountain rescue service, the emergency medical helicopter “Christophorus 10” and an Alpine police officer were alerted. The woman was flown to Wels Hospital.
