The first completed lift support of the new Loser gondola in Altaussee (Liezen district) has already been ceremoniously inaugurated. At the same time, the financing of the project, which costs around 30 million euros, is ongoing and is scheduled to be completed by late summer next year. Now the three municipalities in Ausseerland are also contributing to the financing with 700,000 euros each – a total of 2.1 million euros – as the Kleine Zeitung reports.
Altaussee, Bad Aussee and Grundlsee belong to Loser GmbH a little more than three percent, the majority owner is the industrialist Hannes Androsch with around 60 percent, and Alois Grill holds 37 percent of the company’s shares. The necessary local council resolutions for financing were often seen as a formal act and were passed unanimously everywhere. Only in Altaussee, where the gondola is to be built, is the “Dialogue” citizens’ list skeptical and voted with the four representatives against financial participation.
According to List boss Martin Demon, a great opportunity was missed. Because the 2.1 million euros are allocations from the state of Styria, this amount would be paid out in several tranches of 100,000 euros each. In an eight-page statement, a Viennese law firm advised him to negotiate a “real capital increase” in the form of a new partnership agreement with Loser Bergbahnen. Demon, who submitted a corresponding proposal, said that a new partnership agreement would put the mountain railways in a “stable, long-term position”. Another advantage: the communities’ rights to have a say would also be increased.
Already well taken into account
According to Gerald Loitzl, Mayor of Altaussee, the wishes of the communities are already being taken into account to a high degree – much higher than the participation corresponds, says Loitzl in an interview with the Kleine Zeitung. There would have been different ways to support the loser. However, the conclusion was reached to bring in the funds in the form of the so-called genuine silent participation. If the business results are good, a corresponding interest payment is made, “all of these steps are precisely coordinated with the supervisory authority,” says Loitzl.
