Three foreign drug couriers from Upper Austria and a Czech suspected drug dealer were tracked down and reported in southern Bohemia. The main actor was a 29-year-old Czech who used business connections in his car repair shop to sell drugs.
The investigation began in spring 2022, when a 21-year-old Croatian was caught red-handed selling drugs to four other people in the vehicle while checking a vehicle in Bad Leonfelden. 70 grams of cannabis herb were seized during the inspection. During the subsequent investigations, the Croatian was found to have made 16 drug smuggling trips in his vehicle from the Czech Republic to Bad Leonfelden with a total amount of 1.1 kg of cannabis herb. The man confessed to his drug crimes and stated that he had bought the drugs in the Czech car repair shop. He was reported to the Linz public prosecutor.
The second case occurred in December 2022, when a 27-year-old car driver from the Czech Republic was stopped and checked by a police patrol in Reichenau. Several drug smuggling trips with a total amount of 1.8 kilograms of cannabis herb and 130 grams of methamphetamine (crystal meth) were found. As a cover, the perpetrator also took her seven-year-old son with her on some of her smuggling trips so that she would not be recognized as a courier during police checks. She confessed extensively to her crimes and admitted buying the drugs in the Czech car repair shop. She was reported to the Linz public prosecutor.
In addition, a 50-year-old from Gambia is accused of making drug smuggling trips with his vehicle several times in the summer of 2022 with a total amount of 400 grams of cannabis herb. The Gambian is said to have bought the drugs from the Czech workshop operator and smuggled them from the Czech Republic to Austria. The Gambian did not confess to his drug crimes and was reported to the Linz public prosecutor.
