The senators of the Frente Amplio and the National Party had a heated discussion regarding Katoen Natie and public security.
In the Annex of the legislative Palacethe senators Charles Carrera – of the Wide Front – and Jorge Gandini – belonging to National Party – They had a heated meeting of opinions regarding unfinished issues in their corresponding efforts, referring to the Belgian company Katoen Natie and the management of public security.
The first to criticize was the Broad Front senator who accused Gandini of having interests with the Belgian company Katoen Natie, in charge of managing the container terminal of the Port of Montevideo.
“We have named him Senator Katoen Natie. Faced with this, Gandini responded by bringing into account the creation of the investigative commission regarding the management of Carrera in the Ministry of Interior and the use of Police Hospital for civilians. “Charles Carrera is not a victim, he is a victimizer. He has to be responsible, first before Parliament and then before Justice. “None of that has to do with the port,” responded the nationalist, who added that he “defends the State” and not the Belgian company.

Security, a separate issue
Another hot topic was the management of insecurity, the money laundering and the drug trafficking. According to Carrera, it has been 40 months since Uruguay stopped being a drug transit country and became a storage country.
