On Saturday, the Greiner Dilettantengesellschaft, together with the State Association for Amateur Theater, will conjure up the diverse and colorful world of theater on the squares, alleys and streets of Greiner’s old town. The “Theaterkirtag” provides the organizational framework for this all-day spectacle: well-portioned stage delicacies, full-blown plays, sketches, children’s theater, improv shows, clowns and music mix into a potpourri that will unfold between the city theater, city square and state music school. These three venues provide the right space for creative fair activities. No fewer than 16 performances by 13 groups will captivate the audience from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Theaterkirtag takes place once a year in Upper Austria and is a “joint production” of the Upper Austrian State Association for Amateur Theater and the respective local theater group. After the Greiner dilettantes, full of euphoria and enthusiasm, promised the chairman of the regional association Gerhard Koller that they would organize this major event this year when they visited the Theaterkirtag last year, the time has come this Saturday. “We are really pleased that we were able to motivate so many groups to come to Grein and present the diversity of amateur theater here,” agree Christian Geirhofer and Lothar Pühringer from the Dilettantes.
This day will also be interesting for families with children. From Perger Punch and two female clowns to workshops for face painting and pantomime, there should be something for the whole family on this day. Funny, serious and creative: the broad spectrum of amateur theater will be presented at the Theaterkirtag.
