He was not afraid to openly and honestly address and discuss critical issues in community politics, and yet maintained good, objective cooperation across the boundaries of the parliamentary groups. After almost 20 years in community politics, Johann Übleis has now been awarded the city’s Silver Medal of Honor.
On November 17, 2003, Übleis took over his local council mandate for the Greens, and at the end of 2022 he resigned from the Vöcklabruck local council. For 18 of those years he was deputy chairman of the audit committee.
“In addition to” community politics, Übleis was known for his great social commitment (helping the homeless, having lunch in the Elisabethstüberl, etc.). He has worked on the association’s board since the social center was founded in 1989, and since 2020 he has been particularly involved as chairman of the Vöcklabruck social center, under whose umbrella the social market “Der Korb”, the child protection center “Impuls” and the housing security and emergency shelter “Mosaik” are extremely valuable Perform work.
