ALUR assured a minimum payment of US0 per ton of BT sorghum for the 2023/2024 harvest

Alcoholes del Uruguay (ALUR), assured a minimum payment of 180 dollars per ton of sorghum BT (low level of tannins) from the 2023/2024 harvest.

The subsidiary of Ancap Group and of Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) announced the commercial conditions for the purchase of cereal intended to supply the production of bioethanol in the industrial plant of Paysandu.

The collateral of Ancap proposes signing a contract between the parties with the supplier, who will be committed to cultivating a certain area with BT sorghum, and obliged to remit the entire volume produced in it, with a minimum required of 2.5 tons per declared hectare and without maximum volume limits.

The price of this BT sorghum (the merchandise conditioned and placed in the ALUR in Paysandu), will be determined per ton from the weekly price of corn (good quality) published in the Commercial Chamber of Country Products (CMPP) from 3/1/2024 to 5/31/2024, according to the following formula: Sorghum price = 85% corn price (CMPP).

If the previous price calculation results in a figure lower than 180 dollars per ton, ALUR will establish a minimum floor of 180 dollars per ton for the payment of conditioned BT sorghum.

Likewise, a bonus of 10 dollars per ton will be applied to the price of BT sorghum from farms that meet sustainability requirements, which are validated by ALUR.

A single settlement will be made once the price is defined according to the previous formula. Provisional invoices may be made at the minimum price at the end of each month, provided that the monthly volume delivered exceeds 150 tons. Otherwise, it will be settled at the end of the following month once the delivery of 150 tons has been exceeded and taking into account the volume pending settlement from the previous month.

In case of humidity and tannin content, discounts will be made for each trip, while for the rest of the quality parameters the average volume to be settled will be considered.

Payment for the merchandise will be made effective 30 calendar days after the liquidation and/or provisional billing is approved.

In turn, the genetic material planted must be indicated, as well as the location (sending KMZ file) and area of each farm where the grain to be sent is produced, which in turn will be associated with the contract. This information will be collected by the technicians that ALUR designates.

When is the delivery date?

The delivery date runs from March 1 to May 31, 2024, leaving the possibility of receiving the grain outside the aforementioned period at the discretion of ALUR.

For its part, the company will designate the place of delivery of the grain, taking into account the list of storage plants enabled in Paysandu.

Regarding quality, the sorghum grain parameters established by ALUR will be taken, taking as reference Decree No. 708/978, and also considering the parameters of Tannins and Mycotoxins.

Finally, the state company reports that the planting intention will be received from the suppliers expressed in hectares, and that based on said intention and ALUR’s own demand, the quota for the 2023-2024 harvest will be confirmed.
