Pension funds: who wants one? “green guesthouse”?

This is intended to kill two birds with one stone: companies’ investments should become more sustainable and Austrians should have an additional source of support for old age.

The chairman of the professional association of pension funds, Andreas Zakostelsky, refers to a study that the now Minister of Economic Affairs Martin Kocher wrote while he was head of the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS). The presentation no longer took place because Kocher was appointed to the government.

It was and is about the model of a green pension. The proposal is that both employers and employees contribute to green investments. The employee’s share should be deducted from the gross salary, which would reduce taxes. To do this, tax would have to be paid on the income in the pension.

More money for sustainability

“More money flows into the investment and can be invested. We suggest that the finance and climate protection ministries clearly define which companies are considered sustainable. Significantly more would be invested in climate protection than now, and Austria could achieve its CO2 targets more easily”says Zakostelsky and complains that the black-green government is hardly interested.
