The police patrol from Ampflwang happened to arrive at around 7:45 p.m. as first responders to the traffic accident that had taken place immediately before. The officers immediately provided first aid, initiated the rescue chain for the seriously injured cyclist and only then determined what had actually happened.

A 19-year-old driver from Lenzing (Vöcklabruck district) was driving her vehicle on Trattbergstrasse from Timelkam towards Puchkirchen. At the same time, a 20-year-old cyclist from Timelkam was traveling in the same direction. At an intersection in the Gesteinedt area, the cyclist wanted to turn left and – according to his own statements – gave a corresponding arm signal. At the same moment, the driver wanted to overtake the cyclist. A collision occurred and the cyclist was thrown to the left onto the Gesteinedt municipal road. Because of the police’s quick help, the seriously injured cyclist was able to receive medical care quickly. He was taken to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck.
