The final preparations for the cup clash between Union Gurten and Rapid have been being made in the Klaus Roitinger Stadium since the early hours of the morning. Franz Reisegger, Gurtner’s sporting director from 2002 to 2022 and the good soul of the club, set up the first beer benches at 8 a.m. A short time later, chairman Josef Rosenberger and the two “gastro chefs” of the regional league club, Katharina and Bernhard Braumann, arrived. LED boards have been set up around the pitch and the game will be broadcast on ORF 1 this evening. Kick-off is at 8:30 p.m. The employees of the municipality of Ried invested a lot of work to make the outdated stadium “fit” again for this big game.
“The entire club around chairman Josef Rosenberger and the gastro team with Bernhard and Katharina Braumann have done a great job so that we can play this game today. It’s great that we drew this lot and everyone is looking forward to this game, it probably will will be the highlight of our club’s history so far,” says Reisegger in an interview with OÖNachrichten. “It’s something very special to be able to play in the Klaus Roitinger Stadium. Who doesn’t remember the very first Bundesliga game here against Rapid in 1995,” says Reisegger.
Around 5,000 tickets have been sold so far. The beautiful and warm autumn weather will certainly attract many more spontaneous people. There are still enough tickets available at the box office and also online.

Admission to the stadium is possible from 6.30 p.m. “We expect 5,500 to 6,000 fans to come. Then there will be an atmosphere like before,” Reisegger is sure. The third division team counts on the “Gurten DNA”, which Reisegger describes as follows: “We will play with full commitment. We have proven for years that we can annoy even bigger teams. It would be important that we don’t start in the first quarter of an hour “If we manage to do that, it will be interesting for us and of course a little more difficult for Rapid,” says Reisegger.
“Everything worked really well. We have around 85 volunteers who all work on a voluntary basis. We easily got this number together. It’s brilliant when so many people help together. You can clearly see that Union Gurten is like a big family.” say Katharina and Bernhard Braumann, who are responsible for the club canteen at Union Gurten. Tonight will host around ten times as many people as the average championship game. There are eleven bars in total. “We have a lot of support and support from the Rieder Brewery,” says Bernhard Braumann.
